Ding! Dong! The Witch is Dead!

As some of y'all are aware, John Bruce Thompson (aka Jack Thompson) is an anti-gaming activist and (for now) lawyer.   He is one of the most rabid anti-game personalities making the rounds right now.  For YEARS, everytime there was a school shooting (or rumor of same), Jack would be on the news saying how it was all the video games fault.  After the VA Tech shootings, he was on CNN with an hour saying how it was all video games' fault - even though there were no details as to what had happened, much less who was involved.

In the Fall of 2007, the Florida Bar had decided they had more than enough complaints against Mr. Thompson that they initiated disciplinary hearings.  During the course of these hearings, Wacko Jacko continued to persue the same malicious behavior that got him into the situation he was in.  For a full overview of the proceedings (including actual, partial transcripts of the proceedings, check out Game Politic's Bar Trial series for more information.

In the latest news, the judge in the Bar trial finished her report to the Florida Supreme Court.  This report was due at the beginning of September.  Her recommendation?  Permanent, lifetime disbarment for Mr. John Bruce Thompson, Esquire.  Now, granted that the FL Supreme Court still has to officially act on these recommendations, it doesn't look good for Mr. Thompson.  The court has sanctioned him once this year already (requiring him to have a second attorney, in good standing with the Bar co-sign all of his filings) and had it ignored, as well as another disciplinary action back in the early '90's (where Thompson ALSO managed to thoroughly embarrass himself).  These, along with the Court's recent crack down on disciplinary action makes it quite likely that her recommendations will be followed to a 'T', and quickly.

So, is it too early to start the celebration?  Can we all start cheering, "Ding Dong, the witch is DEAD!"
