In the linked article below, it seems that one of the Marines that Congresscritter Murtha bad mouthed when the Haditha events first came to light, took it personally. So personally, that he suing Congressman Murtha for libel and invasion of privacy.

Even though the Marines haven't been charged yet ... scratch that. ESPECIALLY because the Marine's haven't been charged yet, Murtha's comments were defamatory and cruel. This Marine is doing something about it.

Check out the story for more details.

Sadly, it's looking like they will be charged. I wasn't there but I know this is a black eye for all Americans if the allegations turn out to have any substance to them.

At this point, even if they are proven in court to be innocent, much of the world will still believe they are guilty. If they turn out to be proven guilty, it's even worse.

Either way, Murtha is a scum bag.

I doubt it will hurt Murtha politically.  After all, look at Skerry.  But I hope this Marine nails his hide to the barn door!

If you look at the number of soldiers we've shifted in and out of Iraq, and the number of average murders there are around the world, there's nothing exceptional about Haditha. It's irrational to think that you can have hundreds of thousands of soldiers in an area and have none of them commit a violent atrocity. THAT would be more of a surprise to me, frankly.

So I don't see how people like Murtha and the Iraqis and such make Haditha about the overall morality of the services or the campaign. If you look at how many beheaded Iraqis turn up on a daily basis, I don't see how that cretinous mess of a country feels they have the moral authority to judge a military that has so few examples of such behavior. I think the contrast between the two "civilized" cultures is pretty telling.

I hope he nails Murtha to the floor, but frankly I don't see it happening. Unless he said something about this person in particular it will be a tough case to make if any of them actually DID commit an atrocity.
