A Justice Retires

Let the infighting and backstabbing begin!

Here at my office, we have some outspoken conservative folks and some outspoken liberal folks. There was discussion a little while ago about the nominations for the Federal judges that recently concluded. It got rather heated at times, for some of the same reasons that discussions in Congress (and here at JU) got heated - personal beliefs and biases.

Given the vitriol, backstabbing and outright bigotry on the part of Congressional Democrats (in general) during these discussions, how are they going to behave during the confirmation hearings for a Supreme Court Justice (once, and possibly again here in the near future)?

My prediction: The chaos and partisan bigotry (on all sides) in the coming proceedings will make the Clarence Thomas proceedings look like a 4 year old childs attempt at producing a circus.

It almost makes me wish to find the deepest, darkest cave that I can find and hide there for the next six to nine months.

Yea, but just think of the fools they will present themselves as. I see a lot of harm coming to the democrats as I know they will try to filibuster it.

I think all politicians are fools. That's why I'm fearful about this little exercise. My oldest (10 years old) is going to be using it as a Civics lesson.

In fact, my mom (who's a Civics teacher in Prince George County) is grumbling that this is happening a couple weeks too late. She said this after she pulled out a new notebook to start taking notes for her classes this fall.

You can do that or stick your finger in your ears while humming very loudly to yourself; or changing the subject whenever it comes up; or run screaming from the room; or just plain ignore the discussions! Sorry for being so trivial but I plan to do one of the above when the "fight" begins!
