Every year, I get reminded of how blessed I am to have four very happy, healthy children. Even my autistic son is the picture of health.
Each year, country stations around the nation participate in the Country Cares Radio-thon to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. They spend two days broadcasting in a fund raising effort for the wonderful program at St. Jude's. For a good overview on what St. Jude does check out ->

or read the link at the bottom (which is St Jude Children's Hospital's homepage).
This year, the local station in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia is having their radio-thon on Thursday, Jan 26 (today) and Friday, Jan 27 (tomorrow). If you'd like to listen, they're available over the web at

and click on the Listen Live! button at the top of their menu (left hand side).
Every year, as I listen, I'm reminded exactly how blessed I am with my children. Not only are they smart and loving, they're healthy. When I listen to the radio-thon, it's a very strong reminder.
That's why my wife and I support St Jude's every year. Not only do they help the children that are actually sick (see the link above), they are a research hospital that develops cures that affect us all.
Some of the statistics are just amazing - from a 4% survival rate on one particular blood cancer (sorry, can't remember nor pronounce the name) to 90% today. One particular kidney cancer was 50% survival in 1962 and is almost 100% survival today.
Amazing results.
So, give a listen. And if you can see a need, please donate to St. Jude's. It will help us all.

I guess sometimes in the rat race we run daily, we forget to count the blessings of our lives. Thanks for the reminder.
